In Scripture it says, “Look! I am placing a stone in Zion. It is a chosen and very valuable stone. It is the most important stone in the building. The one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” (Isaiah 28:16)

But his bow remained steady. His strong arms moved freely. The hand of the Mighty God of Jacob was with him. The Shepherd, the Rock of Israel, stood by him.

Let all those who are trying to kill me be put to shame. Let them lose their way. Let all those who want to destroy me be turned back in shame.

You once spoke to your faithful people in a vision. You said, “I have given strength to a soldier. I have raised up a young man from among the people.

So the Lord and King speaks. He says, “Look! I am laying a stone in Zion. It is a stone that has been tested. It is the most important stone for a firm foundation. The one who depends on that stone will never be shaken.

“All those who are angry with you will be put to shame. And they will be dishonored. Those who oppose you will be destroyed. And they will vanish.

“Here is my servant. I take good care of him. I have chosen him. I am very pleased with him. I will put my Spirit on him. He will bring justice to the nations.

The time is almost here for me to make everything right. It is not far away. The time for me to save you will not be put off. I will save the city of Zion. I will bring honor to Israel.

The Lord and King helps me. He won’t let me be dishonored. So I’ve made up my mind to keep on serving him. I know he won’t let me be put to shame.

“Do not be afraid. You will not be put to shame anymore. Do not be afraid of being dishonored. People will no longer make fun of you. You will forget the time when you suffered as slaves in Egypt. You will no longer remember the shame of being a widow in Babylon.

But first I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth. No one gives me any help against those princes except Michael. He is your leader.

The most important building stone will come from the tribe of Judah. The tent stake will also come from it. And the bow that is used in battle will come from it. In fact, every ruler will come from it.

“Here is my servant. I have chosen him. He is the one I love. I am very pleased with him. I will put my Spirit on him. He will announce to the nations that everything will be made right.

Haven’t you read what this part of Scripture says, “ ‘The stone the builders didn’t accept has become the most important stone of all.

Jesus looked right at them and said, “Here is something I want you to explain the meaning of. It is written, “ ‘The stone the builders didn’t accept has become the most important stone of all.’ (Psalm 118:22)

The people stood there watching. The rulers even made fun of Jesus. They said, “He saved others. Let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”

Does anyone believe in me? Then, just as Scripture says, rivers of living water will flow from inside them.”

Peter said, “Brothers and sisters, a long time ago the Holy Spirit spoke through David. He spoke about Judas Iscariot. What the Scripture said would happen had to come true. Judas was the guide for the men who arrested Jesus.

Scripture says, “The one who believes in him will never be put to shame.” (Isaiah 28:16)

God chose us to belong to Christ before the world was created. He chose us to be holy and without blame in his eyes. He loved us.

You are a building that is built on the apostles and prophets. They are the foundation. Christ Jesus himself is the most important stone in the building.

God has breathed life into all Scripture. It is useful for teaching us what is true. It is useful for correcting our mistakes. It is useful for making our lives whole again. It is useful for training us to do what is right.

Christ is the living Stone. People did not accept him, but God chose him. God places the highest value on him.

And, “It is a stone that causes people to trip. It is a rock that makes them fall.” (Isaiah 8:14) They trip and fall because they do not obey the message. That is also what God planned for them.

Above all, here is what you must understand. No prophecy in Scripture ever came from a prophet’s own understanding of things.

Paul writes the same way in all his letters. He speaks about what I have just told you. His letters include some things that are hard to understand. People who don’t know better and aren’t firm in the faith twist what he says. They twist the other Scriptures too. So they will be destroyed.
