Then listen to them from heaven. Forgive the sin of your people Israel. Teach them the right way to live. Send rain on the land you gave them as their share.

It was now three years since it had rained. A message came to Elijah from the Lord. He said, “Go. Speak to Ahab. Then I will send rain on the land.”

Elijah said to Ahab, “Go. Eat and drink. I can hear the sound of a heavy rain.”

Black clouds filled the sky. The wind came up, and a heavy rain began to fall. Ahab rode off to Jezreel.

Teach me how to live as you have promised. Don’t let any sin be my master.

Lord, teach me how your orders direct me to live. Then I will live that way to the very end.

In the morning let me hear about your faithful love, because I’ve put my trust in you. Show me the way I should live, because I trust you with my life.

Who are the people who have respect for the Lord? God will teach them the ways they should choose.

The Lord is honest and good. He teaches sinners to walk in his ways.

Lord, teach me your ways. Lead me along a straight path. There are many people who treat me badly.

I will guide you and teach you the way you should go. I will give you good advice and watch over you with love.

Lord, I have many enemies. Lead me in your right path. Make your way smooth and straight for me.

God, your people made their homes in it. From all your riches, you provided for those who were poor.

God, you gave us plenty of rain. You renewed your worn-out land.

Lord, teach me how you want me to live. Do this so that I will depend on you, my faithful God. Give me a heart that doesn’t want anything more than to worship you.

Lord, blessed is the person you correct. Blessed is the person you teach from your law.

You will hear your Teacher’s voice behind you. You will hear it whether you turn to the right or the left. It will say, “Here is the path I want you to take. So walk on it.”

A wide road will go through the land. It will be called the Way of Holiness. Only those who lead a holy life can use it. “Unclean” and foolish people can’t walk on it.

Do any of the worthless gods of the nations bring rain? Do the skies send down showers all by themselves? No. Lord our God, you send the rain. So we put our hope in you. You are the one who does all these things.

So pray to the Lord your God. Pray that he’ll tell us where we should go. Pray that he’ll tell us what we should do.”

The Lord tells the people of Judah, “Stand where the roads cross, and look around. Ask where the old paths are. Ask for the good path, and walk on it. Then your hearts will find rest in me. But you said, ‘We won’t walk on it.’

People of Zion, be glad. Be joyful because of what the Lord your God has done. He has given you the right amount of rain in the fall. That’s because he is faithful. He has sent you plenty of showers. He has sent fall and spring rains alike, just as he did before.

People from many nations will go there. They will say, “Come, let us go up to the Lord’s mountain. Let’s go to the temple of Jacob’s God. He will teach us how we should live. Then we will live the way he wants us to.” The law of the Lord will be taught at Zion. His message will go out from Jerusalem.

They sent their followers to him. They sent the Herodians with them. “Teacher,” they said, “we know that you are a man of honor. You teach the way of God truthfully. You don’t let others tell you what to do or say. You don’t care how important they are.

I would never sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you. I’ll teach you to live in a way that is good and right.
