Then the man said, “Let me go. It is morning.” But Jacob replied, “I won’t let you go unless you bless me.”

So Ahab went off to eat and drink. But Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel. He bent down toward the ground. Then he put his face between his knees.

The seventh time the servant said, “I see a cloud. It’s as small as a man’s hand. It’s coming up over the sea.” Elijah said, “Go to Ahab. Tell him, ‘Tie your chariot to your horse. Go down to Jezreel before the rain stops you.’ ”

Elisha turned away. He walked back and forth in the room. Then he got on the bed again. He lay down on the boy once more. The boy sneezed seven times. After that, he opened his eyes.

Lord, in the morning you hear my voice. In the morning I pray to you. I wait for you in hope.

The message I give you waits for the time I have appointed. It speaks about what is going to happen. And all of it will come true. It might take a while. But wait for it. You can be sure it will come. It will happen when I want it to.

Jesus told his disciples a story. He wanted to show them that they should always pray and not give up.

God’s chosen people cry out to him day and night. Won’t he make things right for them? Will he keep putting them off?

At all times, pray by the power of the Spirit. Pray all kinds of prayers. Be watchful, so that you can pray. Always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Have seven priests get trumpets made out of rams’ horns. They must carry them in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times. Tell the priests to blow the trumpets as you march.
