The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning. They also brought him bread and meat in the evening. He drank water from the brook.

A message came to Elijah from the Lord. He said,

If he holds back the water, everything dries up. If he lets the water loose, it floods the land.

He turned rivers into a desert. He turned flowing springs into thirsty ground.

The mountains might shake. The hills might be removed. But my faithful love for you will never be shaken. And my covenant that promises peace to you will never be removed,” says the Lord. He shows you his loving concern.

Even the wild animals cry out to you for help. The streams of water have dried up. Fire has burned up the desert grasslands.

The Lord will make you sick and very weak. He will strike you with fever and swelling. He’ll send burning heat. There won’t be any rain. The hot winds will completely dry up your crops. All those things will happen until you die.
