1 Corinthians 15:3

What I received I passed on to you. And it is the most important of all. Here is what it is. Christ died for our sins, just as Scripture said he would.

I will make you and the woman hate each other. Your children and her children will be enemies. Her son will crush your head. And you will bite his heel.”

The Lord said, “Son of man, I have appointed you as a prophet to warn the people of Israel. So listen to my message. Give them a warning from me.

“My sword, wake up! Attack my shepherd! Attack the man who is close to me,” announces the Lord who rules over all. “Strike down the shepherd. Then the sheep will be scattered. And I will turn my hand against their little ones.

The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But how terrible it will be for the one who hands over the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

This is my blood of the covenant. It is poured out to forgive the sins of many people.

Jesus said to them, “How foolish you are! How long it takes you to believe all that the prophets said!

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him. John said, “Look! The Lamb of God! He takes away the sin of the world!

Paul went into the synagogue as he usually did. For three Sabbath days in a row he talked with the Jews about the Scriptures.

But God had given a promise through all the prophets. And this is how he has made his promise come true. He said that his Messiah would suffer.

Here is the part of Scripture the official was reading. It says, “He was led like a sheep to be killed. Just as lambs are silent while their wool is being cut off, he did not open his mouth.

God gave Christ as a sacrifice to pay for sins through the spilling of his blood. So God forgives the sins of those who have faith. God did all this to prove that he does what is right. He is a God of mercy. So he did not punish for their sins the people who lived before Jesus lived.

Jesus was handed over to die for our sins. He was raised to life in order to make us right with God.

I praise you for being faithful in remembering me. I also praise you for staying true to the teachings of the past. You have stayed true to them, just as I gave them to you.

I passed on to you what I received from the Lord. On the night the Lord Jesus was handed over to his enemies, he took bread.

Christ didn’t have any sin. But God made him become sin for us. So we can be made right with God because of what Christ has done for us.

No one gave it to me. No one taught it to me. Instead, I received it from Jesus Christ. He showed it to me.

Jesus gave his life for our sins. He set us free from this evil world. That was what our God and Father wanted.

Christ set us free from the curse of the law. He did it by becoming a curse for us. It is written, “Everyone who is hung on a pole is under God’s curse.” (Deuteronomy 21:23)

We have been set free because of what Christ has done. Because he bled and died our sins have been forgiven. We have been set free because God’s grace is so rich.

Lead a life of love, just as Christ did. He loved us. He gave himself up for us. He was a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice to God.

Every high priest is chosen from among the people. He is appointed to act for the people. He acts for them in whatever has to do with God. He offers gifts and sacrifices for their sins.

That’s why he has to offer sacrifices for his own sins. He must also do it for the sins of the people.

They wanted to find out when and how this salvation would come. The Spirit of Christ in them was telling them about the sufferings of the Messiah. These were his sufferings that were going to come. The Spirit of Christ was also telling them about the glory that would follow.

“He himself carried our sins” in his body on the cross. (Isaiah 53:5) He did it so that we would die as far as sins are concerned. Then we would lead godly lives. “His wounds have healed you.” (Isaiah 53:5)

Christ also suffered once for sins. The one who did what is right suffered for those who don’t do right. He suffered to bring you to God. His body was put to death. But the Holy Spirit brought him back to life.

He gave his life to pay for our sins. But he not only paid for our sins. He also paid for the sins of the whole world.

May grace and peace come to you from Jesus Christ. He is the faithful witness, so what he has shown can be trusted. He was the first to rise from the dead. He rules over the kings of the earth. Glory and power belong to Jesus Christ who loves us! He has set us free from our sins by pouring out his blood for us.
