Be happy for Jerusalem and rejoice with her, all you who love her! Share in her great joy, all you who have mourned over her!

But if you will not pay attention to this warning, I will weep alone because of your arrogant pride. I will weep bitterly and my eyes will overflow with tears because you, the Lord’s flock, will be carried into exile.”

(8:23) I wish that my head were a well full of water and my eyes were a fountain full of tears! If they were, I could cry day and night for those of my dear people who have been killed.

What my eyes see grieves me – all the suffering of the daughters in my city. צ (Tsade)

The Lord said to him, “Go through the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of the people who moan and groan over all the abominations practiced in it.”

Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God on behalf of my fellow Israelites is for their salvation.

I am telling the truth in Christ (I am not lying!), for my conscience assures me in the Holy Spirit –

For I could wish that I myself were accursed – cut off from Christ – for the sake of my people, my fellow countrymen,

For many live, about whom I have often told you, and now, with tears, I tell you that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ.

And I will grant my two witnesses authority to prophesy for 1,260 days, dressed in sackcloth.

Until the day he died Samuel did not see Saul again. Samuel did, however, mourn for Saul, but the Lord regretted that he had made Saul king over Israel.
