He will call out to me, ‘You are my father, my God, and the protector who delivers me.’

The Lord is alive! My protector is praiseworthy! The God who delivers me is exalted as king!

I will become his father and he will become my son. When he sins, I will correct him with the rod of men and with wounds inflicted by human beings.

He will build a temple to honor me; he will become my son, and I will become his father. I will grant to his dynasty permanent rule over Israel.’

The Lord is alive! My protector is praiseworthy! The God who delivers me is exalted as king!

Then I will go to the altar of God, to the God who gives me ecstatic joy, so that I express my thanks to you, O God, my God, with a harp.

He alone is my protector and deliverer. He is my refuge; I will not be upended.

Come! Let’s sing for joy to the Lord! Let’s shout out praises to our protector who delivers us!

I will remove the chariot from Ephraim and the warhorse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow will be removed. Then he will announce peace to the nations. His dominion will be from sea to sea and from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth.

Going a little farther, he threw himself down with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if possible, let this cup pass from me! Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will must be done.”

Around three o’clock Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And after he said this he breathed his last.

So they took away the stone. Jesus looked upward and said, “Father, I thank you that you have listened to me.

Jesus replied, “Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to my Father. Go to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my son! Today I have fathered you”? And in another place he says, “I will be his father and he will be my son.”
