In my time of trouble I cry out to you, for you will answer me.
To the Lord I cry out; to the Lord I plead for mercy.
Even when my strength leaves me, you watch my footsteps. In the path where I walk they have hidden a trap for me.
I call to you for you will answer me, O God. Listen to me! Hear what I say!
In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried out to my God. From his heavenly temple he heard my voice; he listened to my cry for help.
Pray to me when you are in trouble! I will deliver you, and you will honor me!”
When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor.
O Lord, in distress they looked for you; they uttered incantations because of your discipline.

And in his anguish he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.]
During his earthly life Christ offered both requests and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death and he was heard because of his devotion.
