Do not hand the life of your dove over to a wild animal! Do not continue to disregard the lives of your oppressed people!

Rise up, Lord! O God, strike him down! Do not forget the oppressed!

for you live among them. You sustain the oppressed with your good blessings, O God.

When you lie down among the sheepfolds, the wings of the dove are covered with silver and with glittering gold.

Then he will judge your people fairly, and your oppressed ones equitably.

for the needy are not permanently ignored, the hopes of the oppressed are not forever dashed.

O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places of the mountain crags, let me see your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.

Oh, you are beautiful, my darling! Oh, you are beautiful! Your eyes behind your veil are like doves. Your hair is like a flock of female goats descending from Mount Gilead.

But she is unique! My dove, my perfect one! She is the special daughter of her mother, she is the favorite of the one who bore her. The maidens saw her and complimented her; the queens and concubines praised her:

Who are these who float along like a cloud, who fly like doves to their shelters?

I will leave in your midst a humble and meek group of people, and they will find safety in the Lord’s presence.

“I am sending you out like sheep surrounded by wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.
