This is what the king says: ‘Don’t let Hezekiah mislead you, for he is not able to rescue you from my hand!

The wicked arrogantly chase the oppressed; the oppressed are trapped by the schemes the wicked have dreamed up.

They are calloused; they speak arrogantly.

You exalted yourselves against me with your speech and hurled many insults against me – I have heard them all!

They turn to Baal; they are like an unreliable bow. Their leaders will fall by the sword because their prayers to Baal have made me angry. So people will disdain them in the land of Egypt.

especially those who indulge their fleshly desires and who despise authority. Brazen and insolent, they are not afraid to insult the glorious ones,

For by speaking high-sounding but empty words they are able to entice, with fleshly desires and with debauchery, people who have just escaped from those who reside in error.

These people are grumblers and fault-finders who go wherever their desires lead them, and they give bombastic speeches, enchanting folks for their own gain.

A blacksmith could not be found in all the land of Israel, for the Philistines had said, “This will prevent the Hebrews from making swords and spears.”
