You calm the raging seas and their roaring waves, as well as the commotion made by the nations.

He calmed the storm, and the waves grew silent.

Do not disregard what your enemies say, or the unceasing shouts of those who defy you.

Certainly your angry judgment upon men will bring you praise; you reveal your anger in full measure.

You rule over the proud sea. When its waves surge, you calm them.

The Lord reigns! He is robed in majesty, the Lord is robed, he wears strength around his waist. Indeed, the world is established, it cannot be moved.

The Lord is the one who by his power made the earth. He is the one who by his wisdom established the world. And by his understanding he spread out the skies.

So they picked Jonah up and threw him into the sea, and the sea stopped raging.

But the Lord hurled a powerful wind on the sea. Such a violent tempest arose on the sea that the ship threatened to break up!

So when Jesus said to them, “I am he,” they retreated and fell to the ground.

Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”

After he had said this, he dismissed the assembly.
