David and the army officers selected some of the sons of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun to prophesy as they played stringed instruments and cymbals. The following men were assigned this responsibility:

From the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah – six in all, under supervision of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied as he played a harp, giving thanks and praise to the Lord.

My help comes from the Lord, the Creator of heaven and earth!

Look, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a female servant look to the hand of her mistress, so my eyes will look to the Lord, our God, until he shows us favor.

Guide me into your truth and teach me. For you are the God who delivers me; on you I rely all day long.

Rely on the Lord! Be strong and confident! Rely on the Lord!

We wait for the Lord; he is our deliverer and shield.

But the Lord delivers the godly; he protects them in times of trouble.

Wait patiently for the Lord! Wait confidently for him! Do not fret over the apparent success of a sinner, a man who carries out wicked schemes!

I decided, “I will watch what I say and make sure I do not sin with my tongue. I will put a muzzle over my mouth while in the presence of an evil man.”

I relied completely on the Lord, and he turned toward me and heard my cry for help.

He alone is my protector and deliverer. He is my refuge; I will not be upended.

Praise awaits you, O God, in Zion. Vows made to you are fulfilled.

I will cry out to God and call for help! I will cry out to God and he will pay attention to me.

Look, God is my deliverer! I will trust in him and not fear. For the Lord gives me strength and protects me; he has become my deliverer.”

For this reason the Lord is ready to show you mercy; he sits on his throne, ready to have compassion on you. Indeed, the Lord is a just God; all who wait for him in faith will be blessed.

But those who wait for the Lord’s help find renewed strength; they rise up as if they had eagles’ wings, they run without growing weary, they walk without getting tired.

We know our noisy worship of false gods on the hills and mountains did not help us. We know that the Lord our God is the only one who can deliver Israel.

The Lord is good to those who trust in him, to the one who seeks him.

Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that everything comes – both calamity and blessing?

So be patient, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s return. Think of how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the ground and is patient for it until it receives the early and late rains.
