Psalm 45:1

New English Translation

My heart is stirred by a beautiful song. I say, “I have composed this special song for the king; my tongue is as skilled as the stylus of an experienced scribe.”

The Lord’s spirit spoke through me; his word was on my tongue.

This Ezra is the one who came up from Babylon. He was a scribe who was skilled in the law of Moses which the Lord God of Israel had given. The king supplied him with everything he requested, for the hand of the Lord his God was on him.

My words come from the uprightness of my heart, and my lips will utter knowledge sincerely.

Let us evaluate for ourselves what is right; let us come to know among ourselves what is good.

“I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy hill.”

As a deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God!

I will declare a wise saying; I will share my profound thoughts.

Deliver me, O God, for the water has reached my neck.

O shepherd of Israel, pay attention, you who lead Joseph like a flock of sheep! You who sit enthroned above the winged angels, reveal your splendor!

A wise person’s heart makes his speech wise and it adds persuasiveness to his words.

While the king was at his banqueting table, my nard gave forth its fragrance.

I will sing to my love – a song to my lover about his vineyard. My love had a vineyard on a fertile hill.

The good person brings good things out of his good treasury, and the evil person brings evil things out of his evil treasury.

Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

Above his head they put the charge against him, which read: “This is Jesus, the king of the Jews.”

This mystery is great – but I am actually speaking with reference to Christ and the church.

for no prophecy was ever borne of human impulse; rather, men carried along by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
