So Hanun seized David’s servants and shaved their beards off. He cut off the lower part of their robes so that their buttocks were exposed and then sent them away.

I cry out to you, O Lord; I say, “You are my shelter, my security in the land of the living.”

They repay me evil for the good I have done; though I have tried to do good to them, they hurl accusations at me.

Do not abandon me, O Lord! My God, do not remain far away from me!

As for the one who repays evil for good, evil will not leave his house.

Should good be paid back with evil? Yet they are virtually digging a pit to kill me. Just remember how I stood before you pleading on their behalf to keep you from venting your anger on them.

Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good deeds from the Father. For which one of them are you going to stone me?”

Then Saul sent the messengers back to see David, saying, “Bring him up to me on his bed so I can kill him.”

Now David had been thinking, “In vain I guarded everything that belonged to this man in the desert. I didn’t take anything from him. But he has repaid my good with evil.
