My God, I trust in you. Please do not let me be humiliated; do not let my enemies triumphantly rejoice over me!

That day the Israelites were defeated; the men of Judah prevailed because they relied on the Lord God of their ancestors.

But I trust in your faithfulness. May I rejoice because of your deliverance!

Listen to my cry for help, for I am in serious trouble! Rescue me from those who chase me, for they are stronger than I am.

The Lord is my high ridge, my stronghold, my deliverer. My God is my rocky summit where I take shelter, my shield, the horn that saves me, and my refuge.

My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? I groan in prayer, but help seems far away.

To you they cried out, and they were saved; in you they trusted and they were not disappointed.

They say, “Commit yourself to the Lord! Let the Lord rescue him! Let the Lord deliver him, for he delights in him.”

In you, O Lord, I have taken shelter! Never let me be humiliated! Vindicate me by rescuing me!

You determine my destiny! Rescue me from the power of my enemies and those who chase me.

Listen to me! Quickly deliver me! Be my protector and refuge, a stronghold where I can be safe!

Taste and see that the Lord is good! How blessed is the onewho takes shelter in him!

The Lord helps them and rescues them; he rescues them from evil men and delivers them, for they seek his protection.

By this I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.

Have mercy on me, O God, for men are attacking me! All day long hostile enemies are tormenting me.

O Lord my God, in you I have taken shelter. Deliver me from all who chase me! Rescue me!

In you, O Lord, I have taken shelter! Never let me be humiliated!

I say this about the Lord, my shelter and my stronghold, my God in whom I trust –

O Lord, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked celebrate?

You keep completely safe the people who maintain their faith, for they trust in you.

Therefore, this is what the sovereign master, the Lord, says: “Look, I am laying a stone in Zion, an approved stone, set in place as a precious cornerstone for the foundation. The one who maintains his faith will not panic.

“Tell King Hezekiah of Judah this: ‘Don’t let your God in whom you trust mislead you when he says, “Jerusalem will not be handed over to the king of Assyria.”

Now, O Lord our God, rescue us from his power, so all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone are the Lord.”

I will shield this city and rescue it for the sake of my reputation and because of my promise to David my servant.”’”

You will winnow them and the wind will blow them away; the wind will scatter them. You will rejoice in the Lord; you will boast in the Holy One of Israel.

Kings will be your children’s guardians; their princesses will nurse your children. With their faces to the ground they will bow down to you and they will lick the dirt on your feet. Then you will recognize that I am the Lord; those who wait patiently for me are not put to shame.

May those who persecute me be disgraced. Do not let me be disgraced. May they be dismayed. Do not let me be dismayed. Bring days of disaster on them. Bring on them the destruction they deserve.”

For the scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.”

And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

For it says in scripture, “Look, I lay in Zion a stone, a chosen and priceless cornerstone, and whoever believes in him will never be put to shame.”
