The king settled into his palace, for the Lord gave him relief from all his enemies on all sides.

May the Lord repay my accusers in this way, those who say evil things about me!

I constantly trust in the Lord; because he is at my right hand, I will not be upended.

He said: “I love you, Lord, my source of strength!

You will break them with an iron scepter; you will smash them like a potter’s jar!’”

Before him the coastlands will bow down, and his enemies will lick the dust.

I overpowered kingdoms ruled by idols, whose carved images were more impressive than Jerusalem’s or Samaria’s.

For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.

From his mouth extends a sharp sword, so that with it he can strike the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod, and he stomps the winepress of the furious wrath of God, the All-Powerful.

When someone sets out to chase you and to take your life, the life of my lord will be wrapped securely in the bag of the living by the Lord your God. But he will sling away the lives of your enemies from the sling’s pocket!
