Respond to the request of your servant and your people Israel for this place. Hear from inside your heavenly dwelling place and respond favorably.

The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven. His eyes watch; his eyes examine all people.

Our God is in heaven! He does whatever he pleases!

In my distress I cried out to the Lord and he answered me.

I look up toward the hills. From where does my help come?

I was glad because they said to me, “We will go to the Lord’s temple.”

“If the Lord had not been on our side” – let Israel say this! –

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion; it cannot be upended and will endure forever.

When the Lord restored the well-being of Zion, we thought we were dreaming.

If the Lord does not build a house, then those who build it work in vain. If the Lord does not guard a city, then the watchman stands guard in vain.

How blessed is every one of the Lord’s loyal followers, each one who keeps his commands!

“Since my youth they have often attacked me,” let Israel say.

From the deep water I cry out to you, O Lord.

O Lord, my heart is not proud, nor do I have a haughty look. I do not have great aspirations, or concern myself with things that are beyond me.

O Lord, for David’s sake remember all his strenuous effort,

Look! How good and how pleasant it is when brothers live together!

Attention! Praise the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, who serve in the Lord’s temple during the night.

Surely I am looking to you, O sovereign Lord. In you I take shelter. Do not expose me to danger!

The one enthroned in heaven laughs in disgust; the Lord taunts them.

I continually look to the Lord for help, for he will free my feet from the enemy’s net.

For this is what the high and exalted one says, the one who rules forever, whose name is holy: “I dwell in an exalted and holy place, but also with the discouraged and humiliated, in order to cheer up the humiliated and to encourage the discouraged.

This is what the Lord says: “The heavens are my throne and the earth is my footstool. Where then is the house you will build for me? Where is the place where I will rest?

So pray this way: Our Father in heaven, may your name be honored,

The tax collector, however, stood far off and would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, be merciful to me, sinner that I am!’
