The evil person is ensnared by the transgression of his speech, but the righteous person escapes out of trouble.

The mouth of a fool is his ruin, and his lips are a snare for his life.

My child, if you have made a pledge for your neighbor, and have become a guarantor for a stranger,

then, my child, do this in order to deliver yourself, because you have fallen into your neighbor’s power: go, humble yourself, and appeal firmly to your neighbor.

You must burn the images of their gods, but do not covet the silver and gold that covers them so much that you take it for yourself and thus become ensnared by it; for it is abhorrent to the Lord your God.
