He does not fear bad news. He is confident; he trusts in the Lord.

How desolate they become in a mere moment! Terrifying judgments make their demise complete!

You need not fear the terrors of the night, the arrow that flies by day,

when what you dread comes like a whirlwind, and disaster strikes you like a devastating storm, when distressing trouble comes on you.

You will be reestablished when I vindicate you. You will not experience oppression; indeed, you will not be afraid. You will not be terrified, for nothing frightening will come near you.

Each will sit under his own grapevine or under his own fig tree without any fear. The Lord who commands armies has decreed it.

Then I will surround my temple to protect it like a guard from anyone crossing back and forth; so no one will cross over against them anymore as an oppressor, for now I myself have seen it.

“So when you see the abomination of desolation – spoken about by Daniel the prophet – standing in the holy place (let the reader understand),

You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. Make sure that you are not alarmed, for this must happen, but the end is still to come.

And he said to them, “Why are you cowardly? Do you still not have faith?”

And when you hear of wars and rebellions, do not be afraid. For these things must happen first, but the end will not come at once.”

“Do not let your hearts be distressed. You believe in God; believe also in me.

But in fact, if you happen to suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed. But do not be terrified of them or be shaken.
