A servant who acts wisely will rule over an heir who behaves shamefully, and will share the inheritance along with the relatives.

As in water the face is reflected as a face, so a person’s heart reflects the person.

If anyone wants to serve me, he must follow me, and where I am, my servant will be too. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

The one who plants and the one who waters work as one, but each will receive his reward according to his work.

Don’t you know that those who serve in the temple eat food from the temple, and those who serve at the altar receive a part of the offerings?

Who ever serves in the army at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat its fruit? Who tends a flock and does not consume its milk?

Slaves, obey your earthly masters in every respect, not only when they are watching – like those who are strictly people-pleasers – but with a sincere heart, fearing the Lord.

The farmer who works hard ought to have the first share of the crops.

Slaves, be subject to your masters with all reverence, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are perverse.

For to this you were called, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving an example for you to follow in his steps.

Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, says, ‘I really did say that your house and your ancestor’s house would serve me forever.’ But now the Lord says, ‘May it never be! For I will honor those who honor me, but those who despise me will be cursed!
