as water wears away stones, and torrents wash away the soil, so you destroy man’s hope.

A foolish child is the ruin of his father, and a contentious wife is like a constant dripping.

It is better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and easily-provoked woman.

It is better to live on a corner of the housetop than in a house in company with a quarrelsome wife.

Whoever hides her hides the wind or grasps oil with his right hand.
