It is an honor for a person to cease from strife, but every fool quarrels.
So there were quarrels between Abram’s herdsmen and Lot’s herdsmen. (Now the Canaanites and the Perizzites were living in the land at that time.)
Abram said to Lot, “Let there be no quarreling between me and you, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen, for we are close relatives.
King Jehoash of Israel sent this message back to King Amaziah of Judah, “A thornbush in Lebanon sent this message to a cedar in Lebanon, ‘Give your daughter to my son as a wife.’ Then a wild animal of Lebanon came by and trampled down the thorn.
A person who has a quick temper does foolish things, and a person with crafty schemes is hated.
The one who is slow to anger has great understanding, but the one who has a quick temper exalts folly.
Better to be slow to anger than to be a mighty warrior, and one who controls his temper is better than one who captures a city.
Starting a quarrel is like letting out water; stop it before strife breaks out!
The lips of a fool enter into strife, and his mouth invites a flogging.
A person’s wisdom makes him slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.
A proud and arrogant person, whose name is “Scoffer,” acts with overbearing pride.
Like one who grabs a wild dog by the ears, so is the person passing by who becomes furious over a quarrel not his own.
Instead, be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ also forgave you.
But if you have bitter jealousy and selfishness in your hearts, do not boast and tell lies against the truth.
Where do the conflicts and where do the quarrels among you come from? Is it not from this, from your passions that battle inside you?
