David said to his son Solomon: “Be strong and brave! Do it! Don’t be afraid and don’t panic! For the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not leave you or abandon you before all the work for the service of the Lord’s temple is finished.

“And you, Solomon my son, obey the God of your father and serve him with a submissive attitude and a willing spirit, for the Lord examines all minds and understands every motive of one’s thoughts. If you seek him, he will let you find him, but if you abandon him, he will reject you permanently.

May the godly strike me in love and correct me! May my head not refuse choice oil! Indeed, my prayer is a witness against their evil deeds.

If only you will respond to my rebuke, then I will pour out my thoughts to you and I will make my words known to you.

Fearing the Lord is the beginning of moral knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

The Proverbs of Solomon: A wise child makes a father rejoice, but a foolish child is a grief to his mother.

A wise son accepts his father’s discipline, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.

The one who neglects discipline ends up in poverty and shame, but the one who accepts reproof is honored.

Speech that heals is like a life-giving tree, but a perverse tongue breaks the spirit.

In the house of the righteous is abundant wealth, but the income of the wicked brings trouble.

Listen to advice and receive discipline, that you may become wise by the end of your life.

Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover to the ear of the one who listens.

For the commandments are like a lamp, instruction is like a light, and rebukes of discipline are like the road leading to life,

Such testimony is true. For this reason rebuke them sharply that they may be healthy in the faith

So communicate these things with the sort of exhortation or rebuke that carries full authority. Don’t let anyone look down on you.
