The one who walks in his uprightness fears the Lord, but the one who is perverted in his ways despises him.

Why have you shown contempt for the word of the Lord by doing evil in my sight? You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and you have taken his wife as your own! You have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.

Solomon replied, “You demonstrated great loyalty to your servant, my father David, as he served you faithfully, properly, and sincerely. You have maintained this great loyalty to this day by allowing his son to sit on his throne.

To this very day they observe their earlier practices. They do not worship the Lord; they do not obey the rules, regulations, law, and commandments that the Lord gave the descendants of Jacob, whom he renamed Israel.

Praise the Lord! How blessed is the one who obeys the Lord, who takes great delight in keeping his commands.

May integrity and godliness protect me, for I rely on you!

The one who denounces his neighbor lacks wisdom, but the one who has discernment keeps silent.

The highway of the upright is to turn away from evil; the one who guards his way safeguards his life.

Through loyal love and truth iniquity is appeased; through fearing the Lord one avoids evil.

Better is a poor person who walks in his integrity than one who is perverse in his speech and is a fool.

A poor person who walks in his integrity is better than one who is perverse in his ways even though he is rich.

Having heard everything, I have reached this conclusion: Fear God and keep his commandments, because this is the whole duty of man.

“The one who listens to you listens to me, and the one who rejects you rejects me, and the one who rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”

The Pharisees (who loved money) heard all this and ridiculed him.

They said, “Cornelius the centurion, a righteous and God-fearing man, well spoken of by the whole Jewish nation, was directed by a holy angel to summon you to his house and to hear a message from you.”

but in every nation the person who fears him and does what is right is welcomed before him.

Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria experienced peace and thus was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and in the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, the church increased in numbers.
