Every shrewd person acts with knowledge, but a fool displays his folly.

It goes well for the one who generously lends money, and conducts his business honestly.

Wisdom rests in the heart of the discerning; it is known even in the heart of fools.

The tongue of the wise treats knowledge correctly, but the mouth of the fool spouts out folly.

A fool takes no pleasure in understanding but only in disclosing what is on his mind.

A proud and arrogant person, whose name is “Scoffer,” acts with overbearing pride.

At the beginning his words are foolish and at the end his talk is wicked madness,

Even when a fool walks along the road he lacks sense, and shows everyone what a fool he is.

“Look, my servant will succeed! He will be elevated, lifted high, and greatly exalted –

“I am sending you out like sheep surrounded by wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.

Your obedience is known to all and thus I rejoice over you. But I want you to be wise in what is good and innocent in what is evil.

Brothers and sisters, do not be children in your thinking. Instead, be infants in evil, but in your thinking be mature.

For this reason do not be foolish, but be wise by understanding what the Lord’s will is.

Now be aware of this, and see what you can do. For disaster has been planned for our lord and his entire household. He is such a wicked person that no one tells him anything!”

My lord should not pay attention to this wicked man Nabal. He simply lives up to his name! His name means ‘fool,’ and he is indeed foolish! But I, your servant, did not see the servants my lord sent.
