When he sees a good resting place, and the pleasant land, he will bend his shoulder to the burden and become a slave laborer.

Jeroboam was a talented man; when Solomon saw that the young man was an accomplished worker, he made him the leader of the work crew from the tribe of Joseph.

When all Israel heard that Jeroboam had returned, they summoned him to the assembly and made him king over all Israel. No one except the tribe of Judah remained loyal to the Davidic dynasty.

Their descendants remained in the land (the Israelites were unable to wipe them out completely). Solomon conscripted them for his work crews, and they continue in that role to this very day.

The one who is lazy becomes poor, but the one who works diligently becomes wealthy.

The lazy person does not roast his prey, but personal possessions are precious to the diligent.

The appetite of the sluggard craves but gets nothing, but the desire of the diligent will be abundantly satisfied.

A servant who acts wisely will rule over an heir who behaves shamefully, and will share the inheritance along with the relatives.

Laziness brings on a deep sleep, and the idle person will go hungry.

The sluggard says, “There is a lion outside! I will be killed in the middle of the streets!”

Do you see a person skilled in his work? He will take his position before kings; he will not take his position before obscure people.

Whenever Israel was strong militarily, they forced the Canaanites to do hard labor, but they never totally conquered them.
