Lord, you have heard the request of the oppressed; you make them feel secure because you listen to their prayer.

With all my heart I seek you. Do not allow me to stray from your commands!

If only I were predisposed to keep your statutes!

I have asked the Lord for one thing – this is what I desire! I want to live in the Lord’s house all the days of my life, so I can gaze at the splendor of the Lord and contemplate in his temple.

Then you will take delight in the Lord, and he will answer your prayers.

The hope of the righteous is joy, but the expectation of the wicked will remain unfulfilled.

One person is generous and yet grows more wealthy, but another withholds more than he should and comes to poverty.

When a wicked person dies, his expectation perishes, and the hope of his strength perishes.

The plans of the righteous are just; the counsels of the wicked are deceitful.

From the fruit of his speech a person eats good things, but the faithless desire the fruit of violence.

I look for you during the night, my spirit within me seeks you at dawn, for when your judgments come upon the earth, those who live in the world learn about justice.

But I have not pestered you to bring disaster. I have not desired the time of irreparable devastation. You know that. You are fully aware of every word that I have spoken.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.

but only a certain fearful expectation of judgment and a fury of fire that will consume God’s enemies.
