Nehemiah 9:5

New English Translation

The Levites – Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah – said, “Stand up and bless the lord your God!” “May you be blessed, O lord our God, from age to age. May your glorious name be blessed; may it be lifted up above all blessing and praise.

Then the king turned around and pronounced a blessing over the whole Israelite assembly as they stood there.

He said, “The Lord God of Israel is worthy of praise because he has fulfilled what he promised my father David.

Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in front of the entire assembly of Israel and spread out his hands toward the sky.

“God does not really live on the earth! Look, if the sky and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this temple I have built!

May the Lord God of Israel be praised, in the future and forevermore. Then all the people said, “We agree! Praise the Lord!”

O Lord, you are great, mighty, majestic, magnificent, glorious, and sovereign over all the sky and earth! You have dominion and exalt yourself as the ruler of all.

Now, our God, we give thanks to you and praise your majestic name!

David told the entire assembly: “Praise the Lord your God!” So the entire assembly praised the Lord God of their ancestors; they bowed down and stretched out flat on the ground before the Lord and the king.

All the men of Judah were standing before the Lord, along with their infants, wives, and children.

Then some Levites, from the Kohathites and Korahites, got up and loudly praised the Lord God of Israel.

With antiphonal response they sang, praising and glorifying the Lord: “For he is good; his loyal love toward Israel is forever.” All the people gave a loud shout as they praised the Lord when the temple of the Lord was established.

Then the Levites – Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Kenani – stood on the steps and called out loudly to the lord their God.

You alone are the lord. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, along with all their multitude of stars, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You impart life to them all, and the multitudes of heaven worship you.

He said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will return there. The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. May the name of the Lord be blessed!”

Who can adequately recount the Lord’s mighty acts, or relate all his praiseworthy deeds?

Attention! Praise the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, who serve in the Lord’s temple during the night.

Every day I will praise you! I will praise your name continually!

I will focus on your honor and majestic splendor, and your amazing deeds!

I will praise the Lord as long as I live! I will sing praises to my God as long as I exist!

I say to the Lord, “You are the Lord, my only source of well-being.”

Sing praises about the majesty of his reputation! Give him the honor he deserves!

Let them praise your great and awesome name! He is holy!

Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you? – majestic in holiness, fearful in praises, working wonders?

Your right hand, O Lord, was majestic in power, your right hand, O Lord, shattered the enemy.

saying, “Let the name of God be praised forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to him.

At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent, and revealed them to little children.

For God, who said “Let light shine out of darkness,” is the one who shined in our hearts to give us the light of the glorious knowledge of God in the face of Christ.

“If you refuse to obey all the words of this law, the things written in this scroll, and refuse to fear this glorious and awesome name, the Lord your God,

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he gave us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

The Lord’s messenger said to him, “You should not ask me my name, because you cannot comprehend it.”
