So Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up and executed Joab; he was buried at his home in the wilderness.

“I tell you the truth, among those born of women, no one has arisen greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he is.

While they were going away, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

They answered, “Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him. But the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe. Although you saw this, you did not later change your minds and believe him.

Therefore produce fruit that proves your repentance,

He said, “The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the gospel!”

As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, “Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way,

And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High. For you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,

When John’s messengers had gone, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

beginning from his baptism by John until the day he was taken up from us – one of these must become a witness of his resurrection together with us.”

So now, look, the Lord has preserved my life, just as he promised, these past forty-five years since the Lord spoke these words to Moses, during which Israel traveled through the wilderness. Now look, I am today eighty-five years old.

Now the descendants of the Kenite, Moses’ father-in-law, went up with the people of Judah from the City of Date Palm Trees to Arad in the desert of Judah, located in the Negev. They went and lived with the people of Judah.
