But when I leave you, the Lord’s spirit will carry you away so I can’t find you. If I go tell Ahab I’ve seen you, he won’t be able to find you and he will kill me. That would not be fair, because your servant has been a loyal follower of the Lord from my youth.

In the eighth year of his reign, while he was still young, he began to seek the God of his ancestor David. In his twelfth year he began ridding Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, Asherah poles, idols, and images.

So remember your Creator in the days of your youth – before the difficult days come, and the years draw near when you will say, “I have no pleasure in them”;

After he went out, that same slave found one of his fellow slaves who owed him one hundred silver coins. So he grabbed him by the throat and started to choke him, saying, ‘Pay back what you owe me!’

“For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.

And the landowner replied to one of them, ‘Friend, I am not treating you unfairly. Didn’t you agree with me to work for the standard wage?

When it was about nine o’clock in the morning, he went out again and saw others standing around in the marketplace without work.

When those hired about five o’clock came, each received a full day’s pay.

Show me the coin used for the tax.” So they brought him a denarius.

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.

But he saw through their hypocrisy and said to them, “Why are you testing me? Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.”

for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He must never drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even before his birth.

The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever else you spend, I will repay you when I come back this way.’

“Show me a denarius. Whose image and inscription are on it?” They said, “Caesar’s.”

and how from infancy you have known the holy writings, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

Then I heard something like a voice from among the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat will cost a day’s pay and three quarts of barley will cost a day’s pay. But do not damage the olive oil and the wine!”

Now Samuel was ministering before the Lord. The boy was dressed in a linen ephod.

Now the boy Samuel was growing up and finding favor both with the Lord and with people.

Now the boy Samuel continued serving the Lord under Eli’s supervision. Word from the Lord was rare in those days; revelatory visions were infrequent.

Then the Lord again appeared in Shiloh, for it was in Shiloh that the Lord had revealed himself to Samuel through the word of the Lord.
