When they gathered together in Galilee, Jesus told them, “The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men.

From that time on Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests, and experts in the law, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.

I tell you the truth, there are some standing here who will not experience death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”

And I tell you that Elijah has already come. Yet they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted. In the same way, the Son of Man will suffer at their hands.”

Then they were all astonished at the mighty power of God. But while the entire crowd was amazed at everything Jesus was doing, he said to his disciples,

Which of the prophets did your ancestors not persecute? They killed those who foretold long ago the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers you have now become!

For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night in which he was betrayed took bread,
