Now these are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (called Peter), and Andrew his brother; James son of Zebedee and John his brother;

Six days later Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John the brother of James, and led them privately up a high mountain.

Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to him with her sons, and kneeling down she asked him for a favor.

He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and became anguished and distressed.

As he was walking by the Sea of Galilee he saw two brothers, Simon (called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishermen).

Going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in a boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. Then he called them.

Now as soon as they left the synagogue, they entered Simon and Andrew’s house, with James and John.

So while he was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him privately,

Then the apostles gathered around Jesus and told him everything they had done and taught.

For this reason also the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and persecute,’

Now when the hour came, Jesus took his place at the table and the apostles joined him.

Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us to eat.”

and so were James and John, Zebedee’s sons, who were Simon’s business partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people.”

When the apostles returned, they told Jesus everything they had done. Then he took them with him and they withdrew privately to a town called Bethsaida.

Philip went and told Andrew, and they both went and told Jesus.

One of his disciples, the one Jesus loved, was at the table to the right of Jesus in a place of honor.

So she went running to Simon Peter and the other disciple whom Jesus loved and told them, “They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!”

Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael (who was from Cana in Galilee), the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples of his were together.

Peter turned around and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them. (This was the disciple who had leaned back against Jesus’ chest at the meal and asked, “Lord, who is the one who is going to betray you?”)

This is the disciple who testifies about these things and has written these things, and we know that his testimony is true.

So Jesus said to the twelve, “You don’t want to go away too, do you?”

Jesus replied, “Didn’t I choose you, the twelve, and yet one of you is the devil?”

(Now he said this about Judas son of Simon Iscariot, for Judas, one of the twelve, was going to betray him.)

One of Jesus’ disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to him,

When they had entered Jerusalem, they went to the upstairs room where they were staying. Peter and John, and James, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James were there.

Then they cast lots for them, and the one chosen was Matthias; so he was counted with the eleven apostles.

He had James, the brother of John, executed with a sword.

Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time for prayer, at three o’clock in the afternoon.

Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.

It was he who gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,

Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, partners in a heavenly calling, take note of Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess,

From Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those temporarily residing abroad (in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, the province of Asia, and Bithynia) who are chosen

From Simeon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, have been granted a faith just as precious as ours.

From the elder, to an elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth (and not I alone, but also all those who know the truth),

From the elder, to Gaius my dear brother, whom I love in truth.

The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must happen very soon. He made it clear by sending his angel to his servant John,

I, John, your brother and the one who shares with you in the persecution, kingdom, and endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony about Jesus.

(Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets, for God has pronounced judgment against her on your behalf!)

I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things, and when I heard and saw them, I threw myself down to worship at the feet of the angel who was showing them to me.
