But Jesus, paying no attention to what was said, told the synagogue ruler, “Do not be afraid; just believe.”

Early the next morning they marched out to the Desert of Tekoa. When they were ready to march, Jehoshaphat stood up and said: “Listen to me, you people of Judah and residents of Jerusalem! Trust in the Lord your God and you will be safe! Trust in the message of his prophets and you will win.”

He told them, “It was because of your little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; nothing will be impossible for you.”

As he was saying these things, a ruler came, bowed low before him, and said, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her and she will live.”

Then one of the synagogue rulers, named Jairus, came up, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet.

He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”

Then Jesus said to him, “‘If you are able?’ All things are possible for the one who believes.”

But when Jesus heard this, he told him, “Do not be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”

Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that if you believe, you would see the glory of God?”
