So a report about him spread throughout Syria. People brought to him all who suffered with various illnesses and afflictions, those who had seizures, paralytics, and those possessed by demons, and he healed them.

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought aromatic spices so that they might go and anoint him.

Early on the first day of the week, after he arose, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had driven out seven demons.

A great number of the people followed him, among them women who were mourning and wailing for him.

And all those who knew Jesus stood at a distance, and the women who had followed him from Galilee saw these things.

The women who had accompanied Jesus from Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it.

Jesus then asked him, “What is your name?” He said, “Legion,” because many demons had entered him.

Now standing beside Jesus’ cross were his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

All these continued together in prayer with one mind, together with the women, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.
