Luke 6:1

New English Translation

Jesus was going through the grain fields on a Sabbath, and his disciples picked some heads of wheat, rubbed them in their hands, and ate them.

For seven days you must eat bread made without yeast. Surely on the first day you must put away yeast from your houses because anyone who eats bread made with yeast from the first day to the seventh day will be cut off from Israel.

“‘You must count for yourselves seven weeks from the day after the Sabbath, from the day you bring the wave offering sheaf; they must be complete weeks.

On the first day there will be a holy assembly for you; you must not do any regular work.

No one after drinking old wine wants the new, for he says, ‘The old is good enough.’”

On another Sabbath, Jesus entered the synagogue and was teaching. Now a man was there whose right hand was withered.

You must count seven weeks; you must begin to count them from the time you begin to harvest the standing grain.

When you go into the ripe grain fields of your neighbor you may pluck off the kernels with your hand, but you must not use a sickle on your neighbor’s ripe grain.
