There was also an inscription over him, “This is the king of the Jews.”
saying, “Where is the one who is born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”
Then Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus said, “You say so.”
Above his head they put the charge against him, which read: “This is Jesus, the king of the Jews.”
They began to salute him: “Hail, king of the Jews!”

Let the Christ, the king of Israel, come down from the cross now, that we may see and believe!” Those who were crucified with him also spoke abusively to him.
So Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?” He replied, “You say so.”
They came up to him again and again and said, “Hail, king of the Jews!” And they struck him repeatedly in the face.
