Then the father said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and everything that belongs to me is yours.
But when this son of yours came back, who has devoured your assets with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’
It was appropriate to celebrate and be glad, for your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost and is found.’”
The slave does not remain in the family forever, but the son remains forever.
So I ask, God has not rejected his people, has he? Absolutely not! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin.
Or who has first given to God, that God needs to repay him?
who are Israelites. To them belong the adoption as sons, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the temple worship, and the promises.
