“‘The high priest – who is greater than his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil is poured, who has been ordained to wear the priestly garments – must neither dishevel the hair of his head nor tear his garments.

Then Jacob tore his clothes, put on sackcloth, and mourned for his son many days.

He then poured some of the anointing oil on the head of Aaron and anointed him to consecrate him.

The community must deliver the slayer out of the hand of the avenger of blood, and the community must restore him to the town of refuge to which he fled, and he must live there until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the consecrated oil.

He must not defile himself even for his father or his mother or his brother or his sister if they die, because the separation for his God is on his head.

Then the high priest tore his clothes and declared, “He has blasphemed! Why do we still need witnesses? Now you have heard the blasphemy!
