Why do you keep on forgetting us? Why do you forsake us so long?
How long, Lord, will you continue to ignore me? How long will you pay no attention to me?
How long must I worry, and suffer in broad daylight? How long will my enemy gloat over me?
My enemies’ taunts cut into me to the bone, as they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
Why do you look the other way, and ignore the way we are oppressed and mistreated?
Why, O God, have you permanently rejected us? Why does your anger burn against the sheep of your pasture?
How long will this go on, O Lord? Will you stay angry forever? How long will your rage burn like fire?
Will you stay mad at us forever? Will you remain angry throughout future generations?
How long, O Lord, will this last? Will you remain hidden forever? Will your anger continue to burn like fire?
“Zion said, ‘The Lord has abandoned me, the sovereign master has forgotten me.’
I post watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they should keep praying all day and all night. You who pray to the Lord, don’t be silent!
Why should you be like someone who is helpless, like a champion who cannot save anyone? You are indeed with us, and we belong to you. Do not abandon us!”
