Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why is your expression downcast?

So Ahab went into his palace, bitter and angry that Naboth the Jezreelite had said, “I will not sell to you my ancestral inheritance.” He lay down on his bed, pouted, and would not eat.

Be careful that no one entices you with riches; do not let a large bribe turn you aside.

This displeased Jonah terribly and he became very angry.

So now, Lord, kill me instead, because I would rather die than live!”

Jonah left the city and sat down east of it. He made a shelter for himself there and sat down under it in the shade to see what would happen to the city.

God said to Jonah, “Are you really so very angry about the little plant?” And he said, “I am as angry as I could possibly be!”

“My people, how have I wronged you? How have I wearied you? Answer me!

“Aaron will be gathered to his ancestors, for he will not enter into the land I have given to the Israelites because both of you rebelled against my word at the waters of Meribah.

Am I not permitted to do what I want with what belongs to me? Or are you envious because I am generous?’
