We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but if anyone is devout and does his will, God listens to him.

So when God destroyed the cities of the region, God honored Abraham’s request. He removed Lot from the midst of the destruction when he destroyed the cities Lot had lived in.

But now give back the man’s wife. Indeed he is a prophet and he will pray for you; thus you will live. But if you don’t give her back, know that you will surely die along with all who belong to you.”

Then they cry out – but he does not answer – because of the arrogance of the wicked.

Surely it is an empty cry – God does not hear it; the Almighty does not take notice of it.

So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and offer a burnt offering for yourselves. And my servant Job will intercede for you, and I will respect him, so that I do not deal with you according to your folly, because you have not spoken about me what is right, as my servant Job has.”

He threatened to destroy them, but Moses, his chosen one, interceded with him and turned back his destructive anger.

Teach me to do what pleases you, for you are my God. May your kind presence lead me into a level land.

He satisfies the desire of his loyal followers; he hears their cry for help and delivers them.

They cry out, but there is no one to help them; they cry out to the Lord, but he does not answer them.

I want to do what pleases you, my God. Your law dominates my thoughts.”

Moses and Aaron were among his priests; Samuel was one of those who prayed to him. They prayed to the Lord and he answered them.

The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

The one who shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and will not be answered.

The one who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

When you spread out your hands in prayer, I look the other way; when you offer your many prayers, I do not listen, because your hands are covered with blood.

Then you will call out, and the Lord will respond; you will cry out, and he will reply, ‘Here I am.’ You must remove the burdensome yoke from among you and stop pointing fingers and speaking sinfully.

So I, the Lord, say this: ‘I will soon bring disaster on them which they will not be able to escape! When they cry out to me for help, I will not listen to them.

Even if they fast, I will not hear their cries for help. Even if they offer burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them. Instead, I will kill them through wars, famines, and plagues.”

Then the Lord said to me, “Even if Moses and Samuel stood before me pleading for these people, I would not feel pity for them! Get them away from me! Tell them to go away!

Therefore I will act with fury! My eye will not pity them nor will I spare them. When they have shouted in my ears, I will not listen to them.”

Someday these sinners will cry to the Lord for help, but he will not answer them. He will hide his face from them at that time, because they have done such wicked deeds.”

“‘It then came about that just as I cried out, but they would not obey, so they will cry out, but I will not listen,’ the Lord Lord who rules over all had said.

But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will grant you.”

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that remains, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.

Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of the one who sent me and to complete his work.

If anyone wants to do God’s will, he will know about my teaching, whether it is from God or whether I speak from my own authority.

The man replied, “This is a remarkable thing, that you don’t know where he comes from, and yet he caused me to see!

Never before has anyone heard of someone causing a man born blind to see.

Then you came back and wept before the Lord, but he paid no attention to you whatsoever.

“Then I said, ‘Here I am: I have come – it is written of me in the scroll of the book – to do your will, O God.’”
