Then many of his disciples, when they heard these things, said, “This is a difficult saying! Who can understand it?”

When Jesus was aware that his disciples were complaining about this, he said to them, “Does this cause you to be offended?

After this many of his disciples quit following him and did not accompany him any longer.

Jesus replied, “You people are from below; I am from above. You people are from this world; I am not from this world.

Yet you do not know him, but I know him. If I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you. But I do know him, and I obey his teaching.

because those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

However, God’s solid foundation remains standing, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from evil.”

And no creature is hidden from God, but everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must render an account.
