Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, pulled it out and struck the high priest’s slave, cutting off his right ear. (Now the slave’s name was Malchus.)

Jesus said to him, “I tell you the truth, today – this very night – before a rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.”

One of the bystanders drew his sword and struck the high priest’s slave, cutting off his ear.

But Peter said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!”

One of the high priest’s slaves, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, said, “Did I not see you in the orchard with him?”
