So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

But if God is quiet, who can condemn him? If he hides his face, then who can see him? Yet he is over the individual and the nation alike,

I will praise the Lord as long as I live! I will sing praises to my God as long as I exist!

For our hearts rejoice in him, for we trust in his holy name.

At that time they will say, “Look, here is our God! We waited for him and he delivered us. Here is the Lord! We waited for him. Let’s rejoice and celebrate his deliverance!”

They will come and shout for joy on Mount Zion. They will be radiant with joy over the good things the Lord provides, the grain, the fresh wine, the olive oil, the young sheep and calves he has given to them. They will be like a well-watered garden and will not grow faint or weary any more.

So they left the tomb quickly, with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.

but one thing is needed. Mary has chosen the best part; it will not be taken away from her.”

But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things and Lazarus likewise bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in anguish.

‘I tell you that everyone who has will be given more, but from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.

And while they still could not believe it (because of their joy) and were amazed, he said to them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”

“Do not let your hearts be distressed. You believe in God; believe also in me.

In a little while the world will not see me any longer, but you will see me; because I live, you will live too.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; I do not give it to you as the world does. Do not let your hearts be distressed or lacking in courage.

In a little while you will see me no longer; again after a little while, you will see me.”

I tell you the solemn truth, you will weep and wail, but the world will rejoice; you will be sad, but your sadness will turn into joy.

Instead your hearts are filled with sadness because I have said these things to you.

Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” So Simon Peter, when he heard that it was the Lord, tucked in his outer garment (for he had nothing on underneath it), and plunged into the sea.

But whoever drinks some of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again, but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up to eternal life.”

And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the rest of the prisoners were listening to them.

Every day they continued to gather together by common consent in the temple courts, breaking bread from house to house, sharing their food with glad and humble hearts,

So they left the council rejoicing because they had been considered worthy to suffer dishonor for the sake of the name.

as sorrowful, but always rejoicing, as poor, but making many rich, as having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by grace gave us eternal comfort and good hope,

For in fact you shared the sufferings of those in prison, and you accepted the confiscation of your belongings with joy, because you knew that you certainly had a better and lasting possession.

so that we who have found refuge in him may find strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us through two unchangeable things, since it is impossible for God to lie.

You have not seen him, but you love him. You do not see him now but you believe in him, and so you rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy,
