John 13:18

“What I am saying does not refer to all of you. I know the ones I have chosen. But this is to fulfill the scripture, ‘The one who eats my bread has turned against me.’

Even my close friend whom I trusted, he who shared meals with me, has turned against me.

Then, when it was evening, he came to the house with the twelve.

While they were at the table eating, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, one of you eating with me will betray me.”

He said to them, “It is one of the twelve, one who dips his hand with me into the bowl.

“But look, the hand of the one who betrays me is with me on the table.

When he had said these things, Jesus was greatly distressed in spirit, and testified, “I tell you the solemn truth, one of you will betray me.”

The disciples began to look at one another, worried and perplexed to know which of them he was talking about.

Jesus replied, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread after I have dipped it in the dish.” Then he dipped the piece of bread in the dish and gave it to Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son.

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that remains, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.

If you belonged to the world, the world would love you as its own. However, because you do not belong to the world, but I chose you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you.

Now this happened to fulfill the word that is written in their law, ‘They hated me without reason.’

When I was with them I kept them safe and watched over them in your name that you have given me. Not one of them was lost except the one destined for destruction, so that the scripture could be fulfilled.

(This happened to fulfill the word Jesus had spoken when he indicated what kind of death he was going to die.)

So the soldiers said to one another, “Let’s not tear it, but throw dice to see who will get it.” This took place to fulfill the scripture that says, “They divided my garments among them, and for my clothing they threw dice.” So the soldiers did these things.

For these things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled, “Not a bone of his will be broken.”

Jesus said a third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was distressed that Jesus asked him a third time, “Do you love me?” and said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus replied, “Feed my sheep.

Jesus replied, “Didn’t I choose you, the twelve, and yet one of you is the devil?”

“Brothers, the scripture had to be fulfilled that the Holy Spirit foretold through David concerning Judas – who became the guide for those who arrested Jesus –

until the day he was taken up to heaven, after he had given orders by the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.

For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus’ sake.

And no creature is hidden from God, but everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must render an account.

Furthermore, I will strike her followers with a deadly disease, and then all the churches will know that I am the one who searches minds and hearts. I will repay each one of you what your deeds deserve.
