So the sisters sent a message to Jesus, “Lord, look, the one you love is sick.”
God said, “Take your son – your only son, whom you love, Isaac – and go to the land of Moriah! Offer him up there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will indicate to you.”
As for God’s chosen people who are in the land, and the leading officials I admired so much –
When the Lord saw her, he had compassion for her and said to her, “Do not weep.”
Now a certain man named Lazarus was sick. He was from Bethany, the village where Mary and her sister Martha lived.

Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.
Thus the people who had come to mourn said, “Look how much he loved him!”
(Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.)
You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and do so correctly, for that is what I am.
