“Oh that my request would be realized, and that God would grant me what I long for!
while he went a day’s journey into the desert. He went and sat down under a shrub and asked the Lord to take his life: “I’ve had enough! Now, O Lord, take my life. After all, I’m no better than my ancestors.”
“I am weary of my life; I will complain without restraint; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.
to those who wait for death that does not come, and search for it more than for hidden treasures,
who rejoice even to jubilation, and are exultant when they find the grave?
I have refused to touch such things; they are like loathsome food to me.

I desperately long for your deliverance. I find hope in your word.
So now, Lord, kill me instead, because I would rather die than live!”
