“I have heard many things like these before. What miserable comforters are you all!

For the ear assesses words as the mouth tastes food.

How painful are honest words! But what does your reproof prove?

Is there any falsehood on my lips? Can my mouth not discern evil things?

“Does the wild donkey bray when it is near grass? Or does the ox low near its fodder?

I have refused to touch such things; they are like loathsome food to me.

Your words are sweeter in my mouth than honey!

Moreover, you must season every one of your grain offerings with salt; you must not allow the salt of the covenant of your God to be missing from your grain offering – on every one of your grain offerings you must present salt.

“You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its flavor, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled on by people.

“Salt is good, but if salt loses its flavor, how can its flavor be restored?

Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer everyone.
