Then the king said to his servants, “Do you not realize that a great leader has fallen this day in Israel?

He deprives the trusted advisers of speech and takes away the discernment of elders.

Therefore I say, ‘Listen to me. I, even I, will explain what I know.’

I said to myself, ‘Age should speak, and length of years should make wisdom known.’

Is not their excess wealth taken away from them? They die, yet without attaining wisdom.

I am more discerning than those older than I, for I observe your precepts.

Your precepts give me discernment. Therefore I hate all deceitful actions. נ (Nun)

A poor but wise youth is better than an old and foolish king who no longer knows how to receive advice.

I will go to the leaders and speak with them. Surely they know what the Lord demands. Surely they know what their God requires of them.” Yet all of them, too, have rejected his authority and refuse to submit to him.

At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent, and revealed them to little children.

None of the rulers or the Pharisees have believed in him, have they?
