Joab replied, “I will not wait around like this for you!” He took three spears in his hand and thrust them into the middle of Absalom while he was still alive in the middle of the oak tree.

Then ten soldiers who were Joab’s armor bearers struck Absalom and finished him off.

So they hanged Haman on the very gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. The king’s rage then abated.

For you say, ‘Where now is the nobleman’s house, and where are the tents in which the wicked lived?’

For what hope does the godless have when he is cut off, when God takes away his life?

so that the godless man should not rule, and not lay snares for the people.

I myself have seen the fool taking root, but suddenly I cursed his place of residence.

Indeed, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth others spring up.

Evil men will soon disappear; you will stare at the spot where they once were, but they will be gone.

O Lord, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked celebrate?

They spew out threats and speak defiantly; all the evildoers boast.

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of heaven – only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.

Let each one examine his own work. Then he can take pride in himself and not compare himself with someone else.

But as it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.
